Recently rumours were doing rounds that Karan Johar’s dream project Takht might be shelved due to a financial crunch brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, it seems like these rumours were anything but true as the director himself clarified that this is not the case.
In an article published by a leading news portal, Karan Johar was quoted, “Takht is not shelved. It’s just delayed”. The report further reveals that Johar is currently focusing on wrapping up pending works of films that are already on floors before he starts his own mega project. Varun Dhawan Kiaran Advani, Neetu Kapoor, and Anil Kapoor starrer Jug Jugg Jeeyo is on the verge of completion and there still remains plenty of work on Brahmastra which stars Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, and Alia Bhatt. Apart from these two megaprojects, there also is the post-production work on Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday’s Liger.
Talking about Takht, the film is a historical drama about the Mughal rivalry for the throne between Aurangzeb and his brother Dara Shikoh. The film brings together an ensemble cast of Ranveer Singh, Vicky Kaushal, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, Janhvi Kapoor, and Anil Kapoor.
