Are you an experienced freelancer with an established history of writing for the biggest publications? Are you a beginner writer who’s aspiring to break into the industry? Or are you somewhere in between? Whatever your experience level, GameSpot may have an opportunity for you.
We’re on the lookout for writers to join us as freelancers and contributing writers, creating a variety of content types covering video games, gaming-focused technology (such as gaming PCs, components, peripherals, and more), and pop culture-focused entertainment. We need news writers, reviewers, features specialists, regular contributors, guides experts, and much more. If you’re a writer with a strong interest in games, tech, and games culture, then we may have work for you. And yes, these are 100% paid gigs, with article rates based on content types.
So what do you need to do to write for us? Just follow the steps below.
- Email us at .
- Make sure to have GameSpot Freelance/Contributor Application as your subject line
- Introduce yourself! Tell us in a few short paragraphs about what your writing experience is, if you have any specific areas of specialization, and anything else you think would be interesting/relevant for us to know about you.
- Make sure to include some recent samples of your work. We’ll accept edited, published work or writing samples from your own personal blogs/projects–just send us enough so we can get a good sense of your skill and style.
- A GameSpot editor will contact you if we think there’s a fit, so please be patient as we sift through all applications.
While we’re on the hunt for a wide variety of experiences, we’re especially looking for expertise in a few key areas. So if you have an affinity for games/franchises like Fortnite, Call of Duty, GTA Online, or Minecraft, know your way around a gaming PC, or live and breathe anime, then make sure to hit us up.
Email us your applications, and we’ll do our best to get back to as many people as possible. Good luck!
