While stuck at home during lockdown, it’s easy to become tired of cooking and start ordering takeaways.
But it’s actually easier than you think to recreate some of your favourite dishes at home.
A chef has recently shown his followers on Instagram how to make a popular item from KFC – and we’re keen to give it a go ourselves.
Morgan Hipworth, the 19-year-old owner of Bistro Morgan Bakehouse in Melbourne, Australia, took to the social media platform to share his recipe for popcorn chicken and people went wild for it.
A few even joked his take on the snack was so good that it would have the Colonel “shaking in his boots”.
So how does he do it?
In order to make the popcorn chicken at home for yourself, you’re going to need a few things.
The ingredients include a chicken breast, diced into small cubes, 100ml buttermilk, a pinch of salt, 100g cornflour, 300ml vegetable oil and chicken salt to season.
You’ll also need 1tbsp each of paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, oregano, basil and mustard powder – these are the dry mix ingredients.
Morgan explained how to use the ingredients step-by-step.
He wrote: “Combine the diced chicken, buttermilk and salt in a bowl and allow to marinate at room temperature for 30 minutes.
“Whilst the chicken is marinading in another bowl combine all the dry mix ingredients.
“Heat a frying pan over medium with the vegetable oil.
“Drain the chicken from the buttermilk and dust generously into the dry mix and then into the hot oil. Fry for around two to three minutes or until golden and crispy.”
He added: “Drain on paper bowl and toss with chicken salt. Serve & enjoy!”
Many people were intrigued by his recipe and thought it looked “yummy”.
One person commented: “Yum these look so good.”
Another said: “Now this I’m gonna try to make (I’m no cook like you but hey let’s give it a go)!!”
“Colonel is shaking in his boots,” proclaimed a third.
Someone else wrote: “That’s the best recipe I do mine like that then I make a buffalo sauce to go with it. I can see why you’re a big hit you come up with great recipes.”
A different user added that the video had left them “drooling”.
