With the theatres going back in action, production houses are finally confirming release dates of several movies that have been on hold for a long time. One film that was ready and in the pipeline for release was Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani’s Shershaah. The film narrated the story of martyr Captain Vikram Batra who died in the Kargil War in 1999. Sidharth plays Captain Batra while Kiara will portray the role of his fiancé, Dimple Cheema. The film is produced by Karan Johar.
Taking to their Instagram, all three shared a poster of the film to announce the release date. In the poster, you can see Sidharth Malhotra donning the army uniform as he intensely fights in the battle field. Captioning the poster, Karan wrote, “The larger than life untold true story of Captain Vikram Batra (PVC) is ready to be unravelled on the big screens. We’re honoured to be showing this journey – #Shershaah in cinemas on 2nd July, 2021, starring Sidharth Malhotra & Kiara Advani. Directed by Vishnu Varadhan. See you at the movies!”
Directed by Vishnu Varadhan, the film was shot in locations like Dharamshala, Leh, Ladakh and Kargil.
