Coleen Rooney 'may have to delete Wagatha Christie post' to settle Rebekah row

Coleen Rooney may have to delete her Wagatha Christie post as part of a settlement agreement with Rebekah Vardy.

Rebekah, 38, is suing her fellow WAG for libel over the social media post from 2019 in which Coleen claimed her rival’s Instagram account was behind a number of stories which had appeared in the papers.

Jamie Vardy’s wife has vehemently denied being involved in the leaking of stories from Coleen’s page.

The pair were given until February 8 for mediation in a bid to avoid the case going to trial at the High Court.

Now it’s been revealed Coleen, 34, may have to delete her posts as part of any settlement, reports The Sun.

A source said: “The accusation is still there for the world to see.

“If they are to shake hands and walk away then Coleen will need to agree to remove it – and that it will never be repeated.”

Sources told The Mirror deleting the posts is something that is expected to be a part of any settlement offer that is made.

In 2019, Coleen sensationally accused Rebekah’s account of being behind stories that were leaked from her private Instagram page – earning her the nickname Wagatha Christie for her online sleuthing.

Rebekah denied she was behind the leaks and sued for libel in a bid to clear her name.

Wayne Rooney’s wife had set up her own sting operation to catch whoever had been passing on information from her private page to the press.

She said she posted a series of fake stories, blocked all her followers apart from Rebekah’s account and then sprung a gotcha post online when the hoax posts made their way into the papers.

Rebekah denied she was behind the leaks, insisting a number of people had access to her Instagram page.

After the post in October 2019, Rebekah released a statement to strenuously deny she was behind the leak.

She wrote: “I wish you had called me if you thought this.

“I never speak to anyone about you as various journalists who have asked me to over the years can vouch for.

“I’m not being funny but I don’t need the money, what would I gain from selling stories on you?…

“I liked you a lot Coleen & I’m so upset that you have chosen to do this.”

Mirror Online has contacted representatives for Coleen and Rebekah for comment.
