Coldplay look set to make a return to the music scene after working on new tracks during lockdown.
The multimillion record selling band – consisting of Chris Martin, Jon Buckland, Guy Berryman and Will Champion – last released an album in 2019.
But now the group are said to have trademarked the name Music Of The Spheres – prompting speculation this will be the title of their ninth studio album.
The new speculation adds integrity to fans rumours that new music has been in the works in recent weeks and hopes of a new record to follow their chart topping last release, Everyday Life.
A source told The Sun: “Chris and Co have been dropping hints for a while but now it’s finally getting off the ground.
“They’ve been busy working on new music during lockdown and it’ll all culminate in the record, which has the working title Music Of The Spheres.
“Chris and the group have now officially trademarked the name ready for an album.
“It also includes merchandise and everything they’d need for a tour. It’s a really exciting time for everyone involved.”
Fans have been speculating that new music would be coming soon after nothing an apparent clue on the last album.
The vinyl release of the Everyday Life album contains the title Music Of The Spheres written on the artwork.
While a fourth, miniature caption stating “Coldplay coming soon” led fans to guess it was the name of the next album being revealed early.
This year marks 23 years since Coldplay first emerged on the music scene with their debut EP, Safety, released in 1998.
The band released breakout single Shiver in 2000, and debut album Parachutes that same year.
They have since sold over 100 million records worldwide with every one of their albums so far topping the charts in the UK.
