Kind-hearted Danny Dyer makes sure he can chat with his deaf co-star when they walk together.
Rose Ayling-Ellis made her Walford debut in May last year as Frankie Lewis, Danny’s character Mick’s daughter and the soap’s first mainstream deaf character.
And Danny goes out of his way to make sure she can lip read him as they stroll together to set.
Rose told Inside Soap magazine that he walks backwards, meaning she can see his lips when he talks.
“Danny made me feel at ease right from the start,” she shared, “His deaf awareness is top notch, and he even walks backwards with me to set, just so I can see his face, which says a lot about him.
“We get on really well and I’m always excited to share scenes with him.”
Rose continued: “Having him as my screen dad is amazing!
“I couldn’t believe it when I was told. I was so nervous about meeting him and was worried if I would be able to lip-read him.”
Real-life Danny recently celebrated becoming a granddad to daughter Dani’s firstborn.
The 24-year-old welcomed baby son Santiago with boyfriend Sammy Kimmence, the tot’s name a nod to Dani’s Spanish heritage on her mum’s side.
And proud grandpa Danny joked that the little lad’s birth was the second best thing to happen this week after his beloved West Ham beat Crystal Palace 3-2.
On Monday he posted a snap of Dani cradling her newborn.
“So my baby had a baby,” he wrote, “F**k me we needed some joy this year.
“So proud of you @danidyerxx cannot wait to meet the little beaut.”
Dani confirmed her son’s name on Wednesday during the podcast she hosts with her dad.
