America's Next Top Model star Lisa D'Amato says Tyra Banks exploited her traumas

Lisa D’Amato has slammed America’s Next Top Model host Tyra Banks in a fiery rant on social media.

The former winner of the show had a few strong words for the supermodel, as she accused Tyra – who appeared as a judge and mentor on the model scouting show for 22 series – of using her “childhood traumas” for profit on reality TV.

Sharing a confessional video on Instagram, Lisa, 40, told her side of the story as Lily Allen’s 2009 hit F**k You played in the background.

Addressing the pain Tyra has reportedly caused her and other contestants, Lisa accused Tyra, 47, and others working on the show of mistreatment and using her personal struggles against her.

“This message is for Tyra Banks. Remember me? Hi. Lisa,” she said in the video shared more than a decade after her appearance on the series.

“Remember when I had an opportunity to ask you one question in season 5 – a modelling question – and I came in and asked you a question that wasn’t about modelling and you kicked me out? Can I get that question back?”

“I did it knowing that this was a breach of contract, still, because I felt like it was my duty to warn other girls that were going to audition for America’s Next Top Model to know that what you guys do and the way that you guys would poke me and use my childhood trauma against me, day in and day out,” she said through tears.

She added: “It was just so f**ked up, and it broke my heart. Like, how could you do that?”

After spilling her heart out in the video, Lisa added: “I don’t know how you sleep at night,” speaking directly to the supermodel.

“You, Tyra, you knew very well the horrible trauma that my mom inflicted on me, and you also talk so much about how you wouldn’t be where you are without your mother and how powerful she is.”

“So knowing that, you still did that to me and continued to do it to other girls, even after I spoke publicly about it,” she alleged.

After calling out Tyra in the explosive video, Lisa took aim at the show’s co-creator, adding: “You know, I never knew if you were innocent or guilty. I always just pinned Ken Mok.”

The Mirror has contacted Tyra’s reps for comment.

Last year, Tyra was forced address her behaviour on the reality TV show after a number of clips resurfaced.

The catwalk queen was called out online after footage circulated on social media that showed her acting ‘problematic’ in a number of scenes towards aspiring models.

Some of the moments that were aired on the show include supermodel Tyra forcing a model to pose in a coffin after her friend died days prior, lashing out at a contestant for not removing the natural gap in her tooth and for promoting a blackface photoshoot.

In response to Twitter being flooded with criticism of her actions and words, Tyra took to the micro-blogging site to share an apology.

Tyra penned: “Been seeing the posts about the insensitivity of some past ANTM moments and I agree with you. Looking back, those were some really off choices. Appreciate your honest feedback and am sending so much love and virtual hugs.”
