It’s not easy to stand out on night one of ‘The Bachelor’, but Abigail Heringer’s story about being born deaf is one to watch for on the show’s season 25 premiere.
Abigail Heringer, 25, is one of 32 women competing for Matt James‘ heart on season 25 of The Bachelor. Photos from the first night of filming show Abigail looking incredible in a skintight blue dress with thigh-high slit while meeting Matt for the first time. A press release for the premiere hints that the 25-year-old will have a big role in the Jan. 4 episode, as well.
“Nothing can stop the first blossoms of romance from blooming between Matt and the women,” the release says. “One who was born deaf and has a cochlear implant wins his admiration, but will she garner the coveted first impression rose?” Abigail’s bio reveals that she is the contestant who was born deaf. Here’s more to know about her:

1. She’s the first hearing-impaired ‘Bachelor’ contestant. “Having a hearing impairment never stopped Abigail from living her life to the fullest,” her ABC bio reads. Abigail wears cochlear implants, which are electronic devices that helps provide a sense of sound to someone who is deaf or hard of hearing.
2. She works in finance. Abigail is from Oregon and works as a Client Financial Manager at Opus Agency in Portland, according to her LinkedIn. She started the job in Feb. 2020 — not long before she left to film The Bachelor later that year! Before that, Abigail worked as a Real Estate Valuations Analyst at the Holt Group from June 2019 until Feb. 2020 and an Analyst at RVK, Inc. from Aug. 2017 until May 2019.

3. She’s a college graduate. Abigail graduated from Linfield College with a Bachelor of Science in Finance in 2017. She was also a member of the Alpha Phi sorority while at school and served as a Student Ambassador.
4. She plays golf. In college, Abigail was on the Women’s Golf team. She also plays in her spare time, and “loves to spend her free time playing golf with her grandparents,” according to her ABC bio.
5. She’s close with her family. In addition to her grandparents, Abigail places a high value on the importance of family in general. “She loves being outdoors, and when she’s not working, she loves to spend time with family, whom she says bring out the best side of her,” her ABC bio reads.
