Director Sam Raimi, who helped launch the superhero genre
with 2002's 'Spider-Man', has been roped in to direct 'Doctor Strange in the
Multiverse of Madness'.
The announcement comes months after Raimi rumored to replace
original director Scott Derrickson.
On January 9 of this year, Derrickson left the project due
to creative differences. Derrickson remains the project's executive producer.
The film's scheduled production was scheduled to begin in May, but has been
delayed due to the lockdown.
After finishing his 'Spider-Man' triology with 2007's
'Spider-Man 3', Raimi released the 2009 horror film 'Drag Me to Hell' in
'Wizard of Oz' in 2013 and 'Oz the Great End' Made 'Powerful'. Engaged as a
producer, helps reinvent various horror franchises like 'Poltergeist' and his
own classic, 'Evil Dead'.
In the sequel, Benedict Cumberbatch will return as Saucer
Supreme after taking a role in 2016's 'Doctor Strange', and would later appear
in 'Avengers: Infinity War' and 'Avengers: Endgame'.
Benedict Wong and Chiwetel Ejiofer are also expected to
reclaim their roles from the original film, such as fellow magician Wong and
Strange's compatriot Carl Carl Mordo.
Rachel McAdams will never again surprise her role as
Strange's associate Christine Palmer.
'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' BIS is
scheduled to open in May 2021.
